Lyrics of SHOW ME THE MEANING OF BEING LONELY by BACK STREET BOYS

Lyrics of SHOW ME THE MEANING OF BEING LONELY by BACK STREET BOYS

Show me the meaning of being lonely
So many words for the broken heart
It's hard to see in a crimson love
So hard to breathe
Walk with me, and maybe
Nights of light so soon become
Wild and free I could feel the sun
Your every wish will be done
They tell me

[Chorus:]
Show me the meaning of being lonely
Is this the feeling I need to walk with
Tell me why I can't be there where you are
There's something missing in my heart

Life goes on as it never ends
Eyes of stone observe the trends
They never say forever gaze upon me
Guilty roads to an endless love (endless love)
There's no control
Are you with me now?
Your every wish will be done
They tell me

[Chorus]

There's nowhere to run
I have no place to go
Surrender my heart, body, and soul
How can it be
You're asking me
To feel the things you never show

You are missing in my heart
Tell me why I can't be there where you are

Poem on school re-opening

Poem on School Re-opening. Trust uniquely Priya and virtual rambling would excuse my attempt to "being cretive" !!! Here I go, inspired from my son's re-opening day ...

Smelling New clothes
Shining New Shoes
Brand New Books
Packed in New Bag

Walked into school
one hand with mom
one hand with dad
fresh breeze hit my face

Curious faces
Smiling faces
Reluctant faces
buzzing all around me

It's brand new beginning
What games to play
What to read
but why my old mate missing?

I love these heroines

Opposites attract, hence this write-up would focus only on heroines – part one with Indian Actresses. Acting skill, attire or dressing sense and dancing skills are the important things which attract me to a great deal than their make-ups or their super shape. I am not acting smart to avoid the super shape of the good looking girls but it does not come as big criteria when you consider period of time. Not listed in any particular order – so relax.

Savithri: If my memory goes right, I first saw her in the great song called Singaravelaney Deva from Konjum Salangai(S Janaki's first tamil film song) . She was from Vijayawada and acted around 100 movies across Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Her acting skills were outstanding in these movies like Missiamma, Paasa Malar etc . More over, she put her facial expression to great use in Thiruvilayadal, Navarathiri. She won the national award for the movie called "Chivarakumigiledi".

Padmini: Padmini started her career at 17 and acted in over 400 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. She was paired against Sivaji, MGR, Prem Nazir, Raj Kapoor. Sabash sariana Potti from Vanjikottai Valiban & Nalam thana are the great examples of her dancing skills. She made a memorable come back through Fazil's Poove Poo Chooda Vaa with Nadiya.

Sharmila Tagore: This Bengali female won the national award for her role in "Mausam" First thing comes to my mind is her HairWigs, Sapnon Ki Rani Kab song still runs through the mind. I liked her eyes most. She was very famous for her roles in Aradhana and Amarprem.

Madhubala: Delhi based Muslim girl had some health issues during her peak of her career. She gave number of great performances, one movie stands out - Mughal-E-Azam; Madhubala acted, danced so well in this movie which can be taken by any newcomers as basic induction class for acting.

SriDevi: Graceful dancing comes to the fore when one recollects Sivakasi born Sridevi. Who can forget her transparent sarees in Mr India; I would consider Lamhe as the greatest example for Sridevi's acting skills. Movies like Johnny, Meendum Kokila, Moondram Pirai, Chaal Baaz, Mr India, Chandni immportalised her in the world of movies. Her acting skills turned out to unbelievable and challenged every great actor in the industry. She ruled the entire south indian movies for a long time before moving into Bollywood.

Radha: (of Ambika / Radha sisters): She was the prime heroine during my adolescent age – I think, one can understand why I need not explain any more importance of her in this list J; She was all over my dreams for many many years !!! Jokes apart, she did some wonderful acting in these movies – Mudhal Mariadhai; She looked wonderful in modern as well as traditional costumes. She was the queen of tamil movie industry during 1980s, acted around 200 movies and had a graceful exit from the field when was still in demand.

Madhuri Dixit: She was the real dance queen in silver screen thru her Ek Do Teen, Dhak Dhak etc. She had a great smiling face, catchy eyes and excellent acting skills. I saw the movie Tezzab some 10 times only for her !!! She was so gorgeous in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun especially.

Simran: Another graceful dancer alongwith the lines of Madhubala, Sridevi & Madhuri - her graceful dancing was par excellence in many songs. Vaali was the best example of her acting skills and what a wonderful performance it turned out to be !!! If some one has any doubt on her dancing abilities - watch the Ezhumalai song with Arjun – she is totally in control of the song !!!

Kajol: DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Baazigar, Gupt and Faana are some of her best movies. She was not having any great complexion – but her eyes and her smile spoke a lot. She carried movies like Pyar tho ho na hi tha on her tender shoulders and put up a wonderful show.

Tabu: Hyderabad born Tabu seldom looks sexy in the first sight. She had a slow start with movies like Border, Virasat, Hera Pheri-I. But Cheeni Kum or Namesake proved that she is such a quality actress around our time.

Aishvarya Rai Bachan: I felt this mangalorian was so thin when she came to stardom through the Pepsi commercial or Josh movie. But she proved her substance in movies like Jeans (to some extent), Provoked, Guru & Jodhaa Akbar beyond doubt. She was simply bewitching in the red saree – hum dil de chuke sanam movie. My favourite look of her is in the movie Taal, Dhoom 2.

Lakshmi: Julie, Vidhi, Sirai, Samsaram Adhu Minsaram are some of the movies where she changed herself into the characters. She comes out amazingly convincing even in a stupid role like that of Jeans. I can only think of Tabu after Lakshmi to fit into any character example NameSake.

Shalini (Amarkalam, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai & Alaipayudhey) , Heera Rajagopal (Idhayam, Kadhal Kottai & Avvai Shanmugi), Jothika (Kakka Kakka), Poornima Jayaram & Juhi Chawla (both of them had a great charming, pleasant face), Radhika ( for her role in Jeans, Nallavanukku Nallavan), Kareen kapoor (Jab we met) are some others I feel are worth mentioning.

Sensex outlook - June 2008

Stock market outlook for June 2008

Indian stock markets are underperforming global market consistently for the past two months. Hence, Sensex likely to touch 14500 to 15000 levels during June.

Best performing market was Nikkei for the past two months. Issues with airline industry and housing are refusing to come down. Inflation, Deficit, Left Parties continue to haunt indian growth story.

Only IT sector has done well during May and the major trend would contine to be weak during June. Reliance could lead the further fall of Sensex this time.

IPL - Finals

Ended as a Good match - Chennai was short of 20-25 runs, Rajastan did well to hold on to their nerves and finish their winning streak in style by winning the IPL first edition.

Culprits for chennai turned out to be Balaji (wide in last over) and Murali (two sixer to Yousuf Pathan). Anyway, Rajasthan Royals deserved the Cup and they got it.

IPL - Semi finals

Oh Gosh... I couldnt believe it. I was always under the impression that semi finals are far better than finals. I was proved wrong by Delhi & Punjab. Both of the teams played very badly and totally failed to apply themselves.

I was reminded of India Vs Pakistan Friday Sharjah matches when Punjab and Delhi fumbled like this....

Let us see whats in store for finals between Intelligent Royals Vs Street Smart SuperKings !!!

BJP's karnataka victory

BJP's karnataka assembly poll victory is very sweet to them as they came back strongly after the betrayal episode. Karnataka voted very sensibly and avoided hung assembly. The biggest losers are Janata Dal (JDS) and it ended up as a big swing in favour of BJP.

Things to watch out:

1. There are no secular vote, communal vote. In fact, so called secular votes tilted to BJP.

2. BJP should view this result as a vote for change and should focus on good governance.

3. BJP should go for alliance if they want to focus on Lok Sabha elections.

4. Voters have a general tendency to vote for Congress for Lok Sabha elections, hence BJP should not end up day dreaming and get themselves right.

5. Congress should get their cadre base to work instead of focusing on freebies.

ADA - Music Review

A.R. Rahman's ADA is a highly experimental album - probably due to its age - 6 years...

This album would appeal only to two category of people - Rahman's die hard fans & serious music followers.

Others are strictly advised to avoid this album and better take shelter with your regular, comfortable music which you are used to :(

Only the ishq ada, gum sum jil mil track sounds decent and the rest are all sleepy, below average, lacklustre, experimental tunes in 1960-1980s mode !!!

After listening to the songs, i expect the movie to be an emotional sack. This album would flop heavily and can find a place along with Lakeer, kabhi na kabhi, kadhal virus etc...

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na - Music Review

My opinion on Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na album of A R Rahman for the Aamir Khan's production film:

1) Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi - sung by Rashid Ali
Catchy, peppy, additictive number. Pick of the album. Rashid Ali freaks out with little feminine tint. Lovely use of guitar.
Rashid held his voice beautifully in high pitch as ice as normal singing. This song is sure to to be in eveyrone's lips through 2008.

2) Pappu Cant Dance by Anupama, Benny Dayal, Blazee, Tanvi, Darshana, Satish Subramanium, Aslam
Another catchy, peppy, energetic number. Cool lyrics, well sung by the gang. Good support by Blazee. All kind of voice you hear - techno, screamy, scratchy etc... Another sure hit from this album.

3) Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai (Aditi) - sung by Runa
Situational song describing transit from friendship to Love. Simple tune.

4) Nazrein Milaana Nazrein Churaana sung by Benny Dayal, Satish Chakravarthy, Naresh Iyer, Darshana, Shwetha, Tanvi, Bhargavi, Anupama
Another fast number. Big gang is singing cant make out who is when !!

5) kahi to hogi ho - sung by Rashid Ali, Vasundhara Das
Soothing tune, average.

6) Tu Bole Main Boloon - sung by AR. Rahman
Rahman has composed this Jazz number after Sillunnu Oru Kadhal.Seductive humming, superb use of Sax, catchy tune. Drumming and guitar compliments Sax finely in this song. This tune would catch up with picturisation effect, i suppose.

7) Jaane Tu Meri Kya Hai (Jai) - sung by Sukhwindher Singh
Sounds like a pathos version for me. Instrumentation is different from Runa's version, with chorus. Sukhwindher elevates this simple tune with his energetic, high pitch singing.

8) Pappu Cant Dance (Remix) sung by Anupama, Benny Dayal, Blazee, Tanvi, Darshana, Satish Subramanium, Aslam
Surprise remix with more techno sound.

Lyrics of Abbas Tyrewala are simple and straight forward. Special kudos for Damn cute lyrics in Aditi song. Rahman has done enough justice to the launch pad of Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan for sure :)

On IPL 2008

My opinion on IPL matches:

1. Well organised, damn well marketed
2. Lalit Modi demonstrated amazing energy, travelled almost non-stop, solving trivial to huge issues everywhere.
3. Yuvaraj & Rahul Dravid - didnt perform well as captain; VVS was damn lucky to get away.
4. Fielding ability - let down by most teams
5. Best match - Mumbai Indians Vs Punjab; Punjab's bowling in this match was disaster !! Run Outs saved the day :)
6. Players to watch out - Yusuf Pathan, Gony, Dhawan, Badrinath, Ashok Dinda,
7. Players to chuck out - Agarkar, Chanderpaul
8. Captains not remembering their team mates name continued to be a bad joke until they started noting down on paper !!
9. Repeated episodes proved that there is no great dressing room interaction as hyped !!!

On controversies

1. Bhajji - Sreesanth slap row was the worse one could have imagined. Really bad.
2. Rest of controversies like Ganguly-SRK spat, umpiring issues were hypes of media more than the nature of issue.
3. SRK's dug out row was a bad joke on hero in a serious movie.
4. Vijay Mallya's outburst and his retreat did not add any value to his image.

Improvements required:

1. Abolish cheergirls tamasha and replace with chennai sangamam like concept
2. Walk around the stadium by players can be introduced as a routine to facilitate photographing, autographing etc...
3. Two players in fielding side can be given base ball kind of glove. This would bring some more interesting twists in a batsman's match !!!
4. Picture Clarity to help decision making pls.... Ganguly - Smith catch episode, Mumbai Indian Smith-Marsh Run-Out re-plays are notable failures !!!

Prediction for next year:

1. ICON player concept could go
2. Two more cities could come on board
3. More filmstars especially female stars could join the party
4. What about Official betting... think it would add lot of fun !!!

Arushi's murder & Media

Teenage girl Arushi found murdered in Noida - Delhi. Servant was suspected as he was missing. Next day, the servant's body was found in terrace.

All hell broke lose, it turned out to twin murder rocks delhi story in media.

5 days have gone by. If one follows the media, phone records are out, every one who are close to family are being suspected, police entry to (inspection visit) of garage videotapes are freely available.

One wonders, what is the mood of the family? They suffered huge loss but they are hounded madly by media. Looks like, media is inspecting the case more than the delhi police !!!!!!!

I pity Arushi's parents, i am very sorry for them. Their privacy should be respected. Media has definitely crossed the limits in covering this news for sure :(

Update 11-July- 2008: Finally, almost after 50 days, Dr Rajesh Talwar was let off and the servants booked for arushi's murder. What an ordeal it must have been for everyone who were connected with this investigation...

B4U Music - Titbits

Watched B4U Music for close to two hours today to catch up with Jaane Tu's pappu song. My reaction to 2 hours observation here below as titbits:

1. Fell in love with Badi Albeli Hai Tu song from the hindi movie Khushboo. Music by Adnan Sami. Lovely beats, very energitically sung by Udit Narayan & Sunidhi Chauhan.
One more lovely song Kyon Hai Mujhe lagta is sung by Adnan Sami and Shreya Ghosal. Try it folks...

2. De Taali's title track has got fabulous rhythm.

3. Two old people Sunil Dutt and Manisha Koirala are dancing to the tune of Mehboob's song. Music by Ismail Darbur. Poor track.

4. Mere Baap Pehle Aap's trailors are very good and catchy. Priyadarshan (only consistent successful director of Hindi Movies from south) makes this one really cool. A movie trailors is supposed to introduce the movie to audience which our priyadarshan executes cleanly. Just compare with trailors of Tashan, Black & White - one can see the difference. Mahesh Bhat groups comes next in producing good trailors.

5. Sarkar Raj trailor is damn good. Looks like RGV is back with a vengence. Bird inside me tells that gorgeous Ash would steal the show in the movie than others.

6. Finally, Jaane Tu Song - Aditi song is catchy and cool. Pappu cant dance track starts of well and lyrics are good. But Who is pappu - trust it is not Salman Khan !!!

Chennai Engineering college admissions

Titbits on Chennai events:

1) Plus two marks have come and the rush for engineering admission started in Tamil Nadu.
According to the trends, the fancy for engineering seat is at the highest and the capitation fee has hit the roof. No one is apparantly talking anything less than 5 Lacs and the rate is going at 8-9 lacs for the most fancies courses. Tamil Nadu police says they cant take any action against colleges as they have not received any complaints !!!

2) Looks like tapping Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary's phone is a child's play. Deccan Chronicle revealed two tapes some time back on Kodanad estate issue. Latest was released by Subramanian Swamy. This tape had conversation of Minister Poongothai with DVAC Chief. Incidentally, The Hindu paper has time to write editorial on every topic happening around the world other than phone tapping scams.

3. Chennai temperature steadily hovering around 41 degrees. So dont come to chennai until atleast end of may. Who ever living in chennai, take shelter under a/c.

4. Very mixed reports on Kuruvi success. Lot of my friends are telling, that they are able to get across the counter ticket. Who ever reserves are of "funny character" in their opinion.

Another City, Another Serial Blast

Another City, Another Blast, Same old statements !!!

"Barbaric attack on the innocent people"

"We will bring the capture the culprits behind the blast and bring them to books"

"Remain Calm"

"Don't politicise the issue"

"Soft on terror"

"Help of Foreign Hand seen"

"Intelligence alert was issued before 3 months to ------"

I am really scared about terrorism spreading to small cities... Pray god would give us strength to live despite the odds...

Update: India is competing with Israel, Palestine, Lebanon on number of terrorist strikes !!! & the last two blast cases remain un-solved.

Intelligence against Nature

Human being has come all the way from darvin's theory to landing on the moon....

But we consistently failed to track the nature in terms of erupting volcanos, earth quakes, tsumanis etc... How come no sign of warnings for devastating China's earth quake?

Instead, we spend so much of money against military power, spy satellites, one stupid oil war on Iraq (& the price of Oil is trading at historical high of $125), submaries, war tanks, lovely modern guns etc... Sad indeed :(

Man U - EPL Crown

I am not a great football fan. But i had to watch the finals match today with my young cousins.... Man U played brilliantly - where as Chelsea was bit subdued throughout the match. That made a difference in retaining the English Premier League crown by Man U - for the 10th time !!!!!

Kudos to Alex Ferguson, Rooney, Giggs, Ronaldo & Tevez for holding on with the gruelling schedule.

Turkey F1 - Massa's hat-trick

Lovely race overall. Massa scored his hat-trick in Turkey. Hamilton surprised with three pit stop and came 2nd. Kimi had a quite 3rd position.

Kubica, Rosberg had a good race. Force India's Fischella drove as if he is driving a metro water lorry in crowded JC Road before crashing... He had a real bad week end.... Super sunday for Ferrari !!!

Vodafone / Hutch Pug - Customer service TV Commercial - Lyrics

Hutch started using the Pug (variety of dog) long long time back.... with You & I in this beautiful world song.... They have come a long way.... People went crazy about the pug dog and started buying.... price of Pug went up and up and away (from Rs. 2000 to Rs.30,000 INR)

Latest controversy was alleged that Pug was can not run long distances.... & Vodafone management defended ....

Anyway, I liked the new customer service television commercial of Vodafone very much... Hence, i give the lyrics below and the link in which people can see.... It is also shown during IPL matches ...

Every day i want to fly - stay by my side
Every day i want to dream - stay by my side
Every morning i wish i could just play
Wish the mornings to just stay

Movie - There will be Blood

Movie "there will be blood" is based on Upton Sinclair’s novel "Oil", the film depicts the rise of fictional oil barren Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day Lewis) and his crazed lonely man’s destiny. Poisonous greed is represented by Plainview’s quest to drain the planet for his own personal wealth and the equally evil financial aspirations of his nemesis, an insane young preacher named Eli (Paul Dano). While Plainview saps the Earth for capitalistic gain, Eli preys on souls to further the spread of his maniacal doctrine.

The movie starts and grows very slowly and might test the patience of viewers who are used fast action movies. But great acting by protoganists, competition between them, hatred between them is narrated so nicely, one cant just sit quiet without appreciating it.

The photography is outstanding, film background so natural and greatly supported by original background score - Jonny Greenwood. His background score during the oil drill accident scene is still haunting my ears. Recommended only for serious movie goers, well crafted movie.

Movie - No Country for Old Men

No Country for Old Men is a subtle, violent, thriller movie set in texas - western background is enjoyable fair for intense movie goers.

The three key characters are fascinating, and the performances of the actors playing them are just as good. Javier Bardem gets the over-the-top role, as psycho killer (Anton Chigurh), hired by bad guys to track down $2 million that’s gone missing from a drug deal gone bad. Josh Brolin plays the noir anti-hero, (Llewelyn Moss), an alienated Texan who stumbles upon the cash and then sets out to keep it, even if Chigurh’s pursuit is relentless and a brutal outcome seems inevitable. And Tommy Lee Jones adds the western element – and much of the subtlety – as the world weary Sherriff Ed Tom Bell, who pursues both Moss and Chigurh

Many of Bardem's scenes are memorable. Slow narration, dark and natural photography, limited dialogues make the movie very interesting to watch. Background score hums only when it is absolutely necessary.

This movie is a lesson for movie makers who try to scare the viewers with hell lot of fights, bombs, sound effects.... Hence, dont miss it.

Movie - Borat

Borat - Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan
is a very funny movie (or documentary) as it captures the narrator shifting from Kazakhstan to USA to make documentary. His experiences are captured as it happens and he finally gets back to his town.

Amazingly hilarious movie barring couple of incidents, beautifully narrated script, lovely natural set-up for the movie makes the narration believable. Some scenes like driving school experience, dinner engagement with guests, or his english (learnt with set of blacks boys) getting backfired in hotel by white guys... damn funny.

Some of the antics of Borat (Sacha Baron Cohenare) are really funny and it is convincing due to his smiling face. Very different movie... Watch it... Can we call this as mocumentary ?

Movie - Superbad

Movie - Superbad: Two guys (looks kind of laurel and hardy) are always together and they are going to complete their schooling and likely to be separated for their college days. As you have guessed, they talk a lot about sex but unfortunately they are 17 year old virgins. They are invited to a party and they are looking forward to having sex during the time of party. But they are supposed to procure alcohol before joining the party. Glorious turn of events occur like accidents, cops spoiling the party etc... and how the movie ends is something one can enjoy thoroughly...

Jonah Hill as Seth performed amazingly well and carries the movie on his shoulders. Christopher and McLovin provides damn good support compared to the second hero Michael (Evan).

Movie narration is very natural and doesnot provide great laughs post first 30 -40 minutes but this movie engages you fully and convincingly.

Terrible cops spoils the show to some extent and the over all rating is "worth watching". Far better than some of the americal pie series.

Indian Stock market Outlook - May 2008

Stocks have rallied smartly through April 2008 and placed at good levels. I predict this current rally to fizzle out around 18250 to 18500 levels some time in May. Cement, Steel, capital goods sectors are ignored, Technology / IT stocks, Banks (private banks in particular), real estate, telecom, pharma,Oil and FMCG rallied considerably in april.

The markets rallied due to shortage of stock supply rather than a strong apptetite of buying - lack of volumes are a proof for this logic.

Hence, it would be difficult for this rally to gain strengh above 18500 levels. Inflation, airline bankruptcies, US credit card defaults and US housing market trends would decide the future course of markets.

Kamalhasan's Dasavatharam Audio Release

Himesh Reshammya (Himesh Bhai) has composed tunes for the first time to a south indian movie. We know him for his techno sounds, nasal Ooooo's in Hindi. Let us see whats in store for us...Good that i didnt have any expectations :)

Mukuntha: A soothing bhajan song on Lord Krishna, well sung by Sadhna Sargam. On the final stages of the song, one grandma's (Kamal ?) voice adds up and contributes as distraction !!!

Ulaga Nayagan: Clean techno song. Full of glorification to Kamal. Nothing beyond that. One line of the song goes like this "United Nations will invite you" by Vairamuthu, utter nonsense !!! Gentle feminine voice of Vinith carries this song nicely. Irony of this song, "come dance with me before you go" is the most attractive line which keeps lingering on our minds:)

Kaa Karupanukkum: Another techno song, well sung by Shalini Singh. But forgettable song.

Kallai Mattum Kandal: Energetically sung by Hariharan and excellent tune. Looks like Kamal puts his "baktha" acting rather than "aetheist" acting. His character name is most likely "rangarajan" (Ah what a kandupidippu !!!). This song catches the attention immediately and ending with nice aalap. Vaali has written this song very well.

Example:
Saivam endru parthal deivam theriyathu

theivam endru parthal samayam kidayathu

kallai mattum kandal kadavul theriyathu

kadavul mattum kandal kall-adhu theriyathu
(If one looks at saivam then one cant see god

if one sees god then one cant see community

if one sees idol / stone then one cant see god

if one sees god then one cant see the idol / stone)

Oh Oh Sanam: Himesh bhai has sung this techno tamil song. Another forgettable song.
Oh Oh Sanam: Kamal has sung this slower version - so that one can understand the lyrics :); Nothing more that. Beat which comes after pallavi and before the first stanza sounds like the beat of "Ah Ah aashiqui hain meri" of 36 China town.

Audio release function: I caught up with this function on May 1 on TV. My opinion of this entire program goes like this:

Oscar Ravichandran built his early career by successfully distributing Jackie Chan's movies. So., he invited Jackie to this function. We respect the sincerity of the producer for not forgeting his past. You are very nice sir....

But things happened on that day can be classified as utter nonsense, sheer waste of money, time, energy of everyone concerned. The entire tamasha can be called as "self glorification by you scratch my back and i scratch yours" and "kakkai pidithal or ice" of dignitaries. TN CM has got better things to say about Jackie than Kamal !!!!!

By the way, Dhaam Dhoom song " Pudhu Pudhu" is the only song which sounds attractive and weird for the first 2-3 times. But it sinks in fast after 2-3 attempts and sounds as real cool song of the recent days.

Glorious Indian IT Industry

Indian IT industry started way back in 1970s came to the forefront in Y2K and exponentially grown over many years. I wanted to pay tribute to this glorious ride to top…. As I worked in this industry for the last 7 years, my reading is un-biased & is based out of experience… No special point for timing of this write-up !!!

Things to cherish:

  • Healthiest, powerful growth of middle class (responsible for the growth of Indian Economy)
  • Provided alternative job opportunity to traditional industries
  • Abroad travel
  • Young turks' spending culture
  • Got global recognition by work
  • Exposure to new technology
  • Flat org structure
  • The best application ever developed – Indian railways ticket booking system – by CMC
  • MS Office Suite – most useful application for daily survival

  • Side Effects – Casual Sex as culture, Night-Outs at work, made fire fighting as culture

Things to focus in future

  • Quality of deliverable
  • Pro-active Customer service rather than reactive to customer complaints
  • Focus on Bug reduction
  • Development of Re-Usable components
  • Proper project management
  • Consultative approach

1. Saw the hindi movie "Race" yesterday. What a great movie with non stop twists and turns.... I dont think any one could have guessed even 50% right. Why cant people nominate these kind of movie to Oscar :)

2. Greatly disappointed after some googling on climate change. There is a prediction that by 2050, potato and peanuts would not be available. Come on, i cant imagine :(

3. Saw Dasavatharam trailor in TV. Impressive indeed !!!

4. "Yenda Ratchasha" song from the tamil movie "Singakutti" is lovely and melodious. Janaki Iyer has sung the song really well.

I told you so....

Very few times, we get a chance to do this... My turn goes now... On April 1 Nifty was around 4700 levels and it had a non stop rally from 3rd april onwards to 5050 levels on april 24 !!!

Extracted from what i wrote on april 1 on this blog >>>>>

"Hence, my outlook for april month is consolidation and framing of intermediary bottom of Nifty around 4550 to 4650 levels and Sensex around 14500 - 15000 levels. I expect market to stage a smart rally in april 2nd or 3rd week. Any further fall in indian stock prices could be curtailed by strong stocks like Hind Unilever, ITC, Reliance to a major extent. I dont expect Sensex to touch 13500 levels without these stocks falling heavily." <<<<<<

An Inconvenient Truth

What a great presentation by Al Gore... Full of data, past, current and prediction of future.... Amazing documentary.... Mind blowing effort.... Simple language & excellent depiction :)
Wondering how we can take responsibility after seeing the truth !!!

CNBC TV 18 - India

We have two business channels CNBC TV 18 & NDTV Profit. I will review these channels now.

CNBC TV 18 - Excellent analysts, presentation skills. Being the first channel, they have gained good standing in the market over last 7 years or so. Hence, their ability to reach out excellent brains across the globe is very good. Udayan, ayesha, lata & mitali carry the show in excellent way. Too many rewind (of what the guest said) happens in this channel.

NDTV Profit - Being the well known news channel helps them to "break" the news lot better than CNBC. NDTV's analysis on economics is far better than what they speak normally about stock market. No noteworthy anchors in this channel. Lunch show in NDTV profit is the best part where we can meet and listen to CEOs regularly.

Overall, thumbs up to CNBC.

Ayyo

I warned you "n" times.. dont go to places where things are given "free"... Inimey Keppiya.. Keppiya?

Times of India - Chennai Edition

Welcome relief for chennai news paper readers finally.... Neatly packaged paper with lots of local news. Plentyof filmy news in supplements, reasonable editorial, lots and lots of sports coverage... what else you want to wake up to....
The sad part is The Hindu had cut the price of the paper due to competition rather than patronage.... Sad that we were paying so much of money over so many years for the only available paper as they made huge money with loads of advertisement....
The reality of competition forced Hindu to cut prices.... Foolish on our part :(

Losing My Virginity

Hey... Come on... i am not writing about me losing my virginity.... it is the autobiography of Richard Branson... I read the 2007 edition and found it very very very interesting.
His entrepreneurship comes out very well from the book especially his early days of setting up of Student magazine or the record shop. Balloon adventure is expressed in an amazing way in three different episodes. Overall a terrific book to read.

Priyanka Gandhi - Nalini Meeting

I must congratulate Sonia for taking this extra ordinary move. It is a very difficult decision and she did deserve to clean up the mental agony. It is anyday better to talk it out rather than to wake up with bad mid night dream.
Nalini also must have gone through the effect of "life after the crime". So it is not a one way route for both.
I am just wondering whether what Priyanka Gandhi did was part of Landmark Forum exercise- a US based company which conducts character bulding education courses to clean up the past.
I think, people should treat this as private act and not speculate on what they spoke.

Hoardings in Chennai

TN Govt moved swiftly to remove the unathorised hoardings in Chennai city after the verdict of supreme court.

City now looks defnitely better - just see the Panagal park or Church park on mount road... damn good. Kudos to corporation officials for such a swift move. Well done.

Titbits

1. The lyrics from the "Aana Ippo" song from the movie "Santosh Subramanian" is very very good.
2. TV Commercial of UTI mutual fund, IPL delhi dare devil are little different and good. Emkay's train commercial music (shown in CNBC) is fascinating.
3. Would somebody ask Leander Paes to shut up? He is loud mouthing like a drunkard. Probably, the media would be really upset about it. I feel Paes and Mahesh B were a divorced couple of last birth :) :) :)

4. Music Director Ram Sampath (Krazzy 4 title track) beat A R Rahman, Pritam, Himesh in one stroke by claiming around 2crore for one song. Poor Roshans they overpaid some one for one average movie !!!

Some Chennai Restaurants

I have got a new friend with whom I visited some restaurants during last 3 weeks. Might be useful to Chennaites.

Rasam: This restaurant is run by Shree Krishna Sweets and located near Poonamalle High Road Dharmaprakash. Old Bungalaw converted as hotel and ambience is not that much great.

But menu card said, the food speciality is "Kongu nattu unava vagai" (food from Kongu Nadu - i.e., around Erode); We ordered Melagu Paniyaram which was quite sumptuous for starter. We ordered Aapam and a gravy called "Santosha Bhojanam" which was very different like "Kootu". Sambar thickness was like Tomato Soup and tasted very well. Three different chutneys were also prepared well. We had one Oothappam and ordered a sweet "Ilaneer payasam" - it was simply out of world. The bill came to around Rs.450.

Can you guess the content of finger bowl?

It is the extract from hot tea pot with lemon. Overall a nice experience indeed.

Chit Chat: This is supposed to be a middle class restaurant with a USP of food until midnight. We went there by 10:30pm and could not find half of items. We finally ordered some kind of sizzler and managed to eat. Worth ignoring this place.

Cream Center: This restaurant is situated in R.A. Puram (on Chamiers Road). Good crowd hanging out always waiting for a place. So i got curious. We checked into this place and booked for our seat. We were asked to wait for some 15m. Finally we went in, very good ambience, fully crowded and noisy.

We ordered veg biriyani, sizzler and fresh lime soda. Delivery came in 12m and the food as really tasty. Then, we ordered some methi parotta and lentils. It offered good taste, soft, ideal for mouth watering feeling.

The bill came to around Rs.750 and i felt, it was worth spent.

But I would always love to eat the Uppuma of Drive Inn any number of times and sip a hot cup of coffee in Saravana Bhavan peters road !!!!! Yummmmmmmmmmmmmy....

Hogenakkal Issue

Anonymous asked my opinion on Hogenakkal issue. Thanks for asking my opinion. Here I go !!!

On a lighter vain, this entire episode is purely to motivate the cadres of respective organisations like political parties, linguistic chuvanist groups, actor's association etc...

General public should strictly ignore these events and observe the fun....and politely move out of touring in border areas; These things would keep happening every 2-3 years, script is same.

Have you ever seen such a wide publicity for GUCCI sun glasses as shown by tamil actors? Have you seen Cheran as angry young man... Just sit back and ensoi the punch dialogues... why to react in haste?

On a serious note, TN CM MK's projects put on hold is increasing... Be it satellite township, ram setu, new chennai airport or Hogenakkal water issue.... may be he should take retirement !!! He first claimed that he is stopping the project, then he said he is postponing the project, then he said he is not under any pressure from Sonia to stop this project, latest he said... he is negotiating japanese funds to start the project... very funny... he has got 50000 crores under his disposal but he do not have 1650 crores for this project !!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably, color TV is more important :)

Poor Congress... donno what to say... struck deeply between devil and deep sea....

If tamil actors association so upset with fellow Kannada actors, why not they stop selling dubbing / remake rights? Not co-operate on processing lab work etc.. taking risk of losing some revenue... they wont do it... becoz they just want publicity.

India needs to preserve water, build canals for farming, lay roads to connect millions of villages to be a real super power. The loss is mounting due to lack of storage facilities for food grains and vegetables.

Let us forget Abdul Kalam's vision for 2020.

Baharin F1

Lovely race... very few issues on track...

Ferrari's best possible finish.... which they missed out last time due to Massa's error... No such issues this time. Force india had a first credible finish....

Poor Alonso and Hamilton.... Kubica and Kovalainen are likely to be future stars !!!

Iran - Imam Square

I caught up with some episodes of "BBC's around the world in 80 treasure" during Sunday mornings recently.

I liked Imam's Square (Isfahan) as soon as I saw it. It is a huge place with Mosque, bazaar etc... spread over such a big landscape. Probably similar to Tinannmen square in size. Just check out the link below to feel the place.

Stock market outlook - april 2008

Good amount of correction witnessed in March thanks to insipid budget, FII sale, slow down of GDP etc... Majority of Midcap and Smallcap stocks recorded their intermediary bottom on March 24.

Corporate results would be out in april, inflation taming started across the world in big way thereby containing the prices of commodities, US and Europe results would provide further writedowns thereby bringing some predictability of outlook.

Hence, my outlook for april month is consolidation and framing of intermediary bottom of Nifty around 4550 to 4650 levels and Sensex around 14500 - 15000 levels.

I expect market to stage a smart rally in april 2nd or 3rd week. Any further fall in indian stock prices could be curtailed by strong stocks like Hind Unilever, ITC, Reliance to a major extent. I dont expect Sensex to touch 13500 levels without these stocks falling heavily. Be very cautious while trading in commodities hereafter.

Injury Scare for Cricket India

Gloster filed one super negative report about fitness before his last working day with BCCI.

Sachin Tendulkar disputed the story at that time... and he is out of second test due to injury... Nothing can be said about Zaheer, RP Singh, Kumble, Ishant etc...

Sad State indeed.... Idhukku than thayir saadam mattum sapdathey-nnu sonnen :)

RBI Governer Reddy & his policy

Let me congratulate Mr Reddy for his long sighted policy moves...

Background:

Finance Minister Mr. P Chidambaram wanted cut in interest rates for the past one year to fuel the growth. He told in all sort of forum but Mr Reddy didnt take the cue from the FM saying that Inflation is a concern. Both of them repeated their stand for the past one year thereby indicating conflicting ideas between RBI & Finance Ministry.

Current Trend:

Inflation touched record high of 6.68 last friday. If the real fuel prices are passed on to customers, the real inflation could have been around 8.5% in my opinion.
Now the experts are talking about interest rate hike to tame inflation !!!!!

Point to Note:

1. Reddy acted with long term vision and hence no short term decisions were taken. He was abused in media by "experts" and Mr Reddy proved to be having last laugh on his critics. I salute your great show Sir...
2. Finance Minister proved to be a politician rather than a economist.
3. Finance Minister is in real trouble for not taking any concrete action to tame inflation or control of food prices in the last 2-3 years. He wasted last three years by not reforming, disinvesting etc... and earned all the bad name for inflation.
4. It is a huge dis-advantage to Congress during poll year and his farmer loan waiver could be forgotten too fast.

Dosa for Kids

Every married couple knows how difficult to make kids eat…

My wife tries some methods which make our life little simpler… See below for the star fish & goat shaped dosas :)

I am sure that we are not the first one to try these things... Kudos to good spirits of every mom !!!

India Vs SA - Chennai First Test Match

I watched the first test match between India and South Africa from Coromandel Cement Stand (H) on 3rd and 4th day. It was the first attempt from my side to venture into crowds and I enjoyed it fully.

On Cricket:

Lovely to see Sehwag scoring a triple hundred. He was at ease and punched all around the park. He never seemed to be under pressure whereas he put the bowlers under severe test. Dravid was normal and played at his own pace. Great third day indeed.

Play turned upside down on fourth day and South african bowlers took the match under control and dismissed India. I thought India would go and score 700 runs or so but it turned out to be "No Way". Couldnt understand why players like Sachin, Ganguly , Laxman & Dhoni didnt play their natural game and acted as if they are under pressure.

Come on guys.. where is the pressure when you are near "scores level" ?

On Stadium:

Nothing much to say. All I can say, choose Canara bank, IOB or Coromandel stand for good view of the pitch and if you want to avoid the hot sun effect to reasonable extent.

Free for all male toilets..very transparent without any partition. Bisibelabath, Melaga bajji, Curd Rice, Vada available all over the stadium.

No Queue system during lunch and tea breaks. But "outpass" concept was damn good and using that one can get out of stadium anytime and come back. No real checking by security guards... I could spot lot of people sneaked in with digi cams even though it is prohibited under rule.

Good to see posters on discrimination (effect of symond - monkey episode) !!!!!!

On People:

Genrally noisy. And players who came to boundary line greeted fully. Everyone is so curious to come on TV definitely. One poster "Multan Sultan is now Chiranjeevi of Chennai".

Overheard:

1. Enna Sir.. Sehwag 300 adippana? (when Sehwag was at 285)... reply came: adicha pottuduvan... (what a reply :) )

2. Generally, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman were most cursed players from the spectator's point of view.

Final Conclusion:

If one likes cricket and if one can tolerate maximum noise, pls do visit the stadium once. It gives a real "feel good" factor.

Thanks once again to Radio One for giving the ticket as "contest winner"; Good selection folks... especially for the "H" Stand.
