Ilaya Raja to Rahman

Speaking at the carnatic music based launch, Ilaiyaraaja said that "Some persons claim that all the fame 'goes' to the Lord. This is wrong; why would be a God be in need of fame. Isn't He the one who showers on us fame and popularity and money? How can we 'return' to Him the fame given to us by Him? It won't be proper at all!"

This comment is aimed at A R Rahman.

What is your reaction to the comment folks? do u agree or not?

  2. When you visit the temple, you put some money in the hundi... does this mean He needs your money? He is the one who gave you the money.

Wonder what prompted a great music director to take aim at another great music director ...

  3. Awesome comment by Raja...
(I don't definitely believe that was aimed at AR Rahman because Ilayaraja never cared about any body however great one may be in other's perspective)

I don't understand why people credit God for their work . Does it mean the God is so partial ?

AR Rahman deserves the credit for himself because he worked hard to create such a wonderful music and I absolutely hated him when he said those words "Fame to God" .

  7. Hi,

For me, I personally feel what ARR says is true/correct. This is simply b'coz he is grateful to GOD, for who he is today was with the blessings of GOD.

This reminds me of a scene from Evan Almighty when GOD explains to Evan's wife (in the movie) where the dialogs goes like this :

"If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience?

Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient?...

If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous?

If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?"

So, likewise ARR has been given the opportunity to unleash his talent. Hence, he is grateful to GOD for the opportunity given.

I simply fail to see where Raja sir is coming at.
